Walmart Neighborhood Now Hiring in Waukesha

Walmart is hiring 95 part- and full-time employees for a new Neighborhood Market store in Waukesha. The 41,000-square-foot store is a smaller-scale grocery stores that will open this year on Highway 164 in the Town of Waukesha, just south of East Main Street. Meijer Plans Derailed in Waukesha...

Meijer's hopes of building in Waukesha have taken a hit after city aldermen didn't come up with enough votes to approve a controversial rezoning need for the proposed big-box store. Residents living near the site have been fighting the project,  citing traffic and aesthetic concerns. The planned grocery and general merchandise store is nearly 193,000 square feet and is proposed for a 24-hour operation. ...While It's Full Steam Ahead in Tosa

Things may not be going well in Waukesha for Meijer, but the chain is moving forward with plans to open its store in at North 112th Street and West Burleigh Street in Wauwatosa. The company purchased three parcels of land at that location for $5.77 million. The properties will be razed to make way for Meijer's 157,000-square-foot store. Wauwatosa Patch has more details.

Soaps & Scents Leaving Mayfair Mall

After nearly three decades at Mayfair Mall, the bath and beauty products shop Soaps & Scents will close its doors on Aug. 25 and open a new location elsewhere in Wauwatosa. Mayfair is getting ready for a Nordstrom store in 2015, and wanted Soaps & Scents to move to a less desirable location in the mall. Instead of doing that, its owner decided to relocate to the Village area of Wauwatosa. Read more on Wauwatosa Patch.

New Development Eyed for Former Waukesha Kmart

More than a year after a Kmart closed at East Sunset Drive and East Avenue in Waukesha, as many as six new retailers may be coming to that spot. A developer is planning at $13 million renovation of the old Kmart, which also includes a 10,000-square-foot addition to the building. Get more details on Waukesha Patch.
