Some days can be very hard!

How to deal with a sick child!

I don't know about the rest of you, but I have always thought that as a mom, it is my job to keep my children safe and and to take care of them the best way possible.

This has been a hard week for Kobi. He started summer camp last week and ended up catching a virus/cold that has aggravated his asthma plus the weather hasn't helped his allergies and asthma either.

I took Kobi to the doctor the other day and before we left, he looked at me and said, "I wish I could stop coughing." It just broke my heart. I told him we were heading to the doctor's and that the doctor would help him. He was satisfied with that and off we went.

I talked a while with the doctor to see if there was anything we could do for Kobi and found out that the best medicine for Kobi was what we were already doing so Kobi and I left.Yes, I will admit, I do worry about him. I know he is 3 and sometimes can tell me what is wrong but sometimes can't.

Kobi has had a lot of trouble sleeping because of the coughing but he has been quite the trooper about all of this. Yes, he has been cranky at times but I think we all would be if we couldn't sleep because we were constantly coughing.

My husband and I try very hard not to show our concern with Kobi's asthma when he has an attack because we don't want to scare him. Kobi seems to handle the attacks better than I do. We try as much as possible to treat him normal. Even if he has an attack, we give him medicine and praise him for taking it like a big boy.

Throughout all of the turmoil Kobi has felt this week, he has kept his "sweetness" in tact. His latest thing is every-time we sit down to eat, Kobi pulls out our chairs for us. I told him tonight that he is turning in to quite the young gentleman. His response was, I'm not a gentleman, I'm Kobi gentleman." There's a difference?

Did we know when we adopted Kobi that he got sick easily? Yes! Did we know about the possibility of Kobi developing asthma when we adopted him? Yes! Do we love Kobi any less because of this? No!

I will admit that now that I am in my 50's there are days when Kobi is sick that it is exhausting taking care of him but life would be so dull without him. I am so glad that he is here. Trust me, he keeps us young!

So, I will continue to keep him safe and take care of him the very best that I can and just love him to death because he is so worth it!
