What life has been like with Kobi!

It's been a great four years!

This week marks four years since Kobi came into our lives as our foster son. He was six months old when we first met and almost two years old when we adopted him.

This is what life has been like in those four years:

We have watched Kobi go through ear infections, then ear tubes. We have helped Kobi learn how to deal with his asthma. We have held Kobi and tried to make his sore throat feel better until his tonsils and adenoids were taken out. We have sat many days and nights and comforted Kobi over the loss of Maile last December, who he looked at as his other sister. We still spend days trying to explain to him why Maile is not coming back as we dry his tears.

We have watched Kobi learn to smile and not be so afraid of everything. We got to watch Kobi crawl and then walk. Then came the talking, which he now starts at 7 in the morning and usually goes non-stop until he goes to bed.

I have gotten to hear Kobi make up so many wonderful songs for me. So many, that I can't even count how many. I have gotten the special "I love you, mommy and I am never going to let you go." He has also told me that I am "chopped liver" when Erica, his sister, is around and I can deal with that.

Mark has gotten the "daddy, you are my best friend and I love hanging out with you." Kobi also tells him that he has the best days with him.

Erica has gotten a special sister/brother relationship. He tells Erica that she is the best sister and he loves her so much.

We have all gotten the laughter, the amazement, the silliness and the love of a little boy who wants to belong to a family and he does. He belongs in our family. We have gotten more hugs and kisses and "I love you's" than I can count.

We are also so grateful to four people who made this happen...Hilary, Lyndsay, Scott and God.

Do we have any regrets...no. Would we do it again...in a heartbeat!

Thank you Kobi for accepting us as your family. We love you as Kobi would say, "to the moon and sky and stars and back again!"
