Best Fish Fry: And The Winner Is...

Oak Creek Patch readers are pretty passionate about their fish fry.

When the polls closed at 9 a.m. Friday, and 45 comments posted. It even generated a little bit of controversy.

In the end, it came down to and . Note the disclaimer that "because this poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor, based on poll results, comments and reviews on Patch Places."

In my book, we're all winners here. But I have to name just one -- I refuse to cop out and declare it a "tie."

And it's tough to ignore the outpouring of comments, plus the simple fact this establishment had more votes (59) then any other.

The Cellar, you are the winner of the inaugural 2012 Best Fish Fry poll. 

The Cellar has a long, long history in Oak Creek. Once called Oakwood Hall, it was founded way back in the 1800s. In addition to its fish fry, it is also known for its pizza, Prime Rib, burgers and homemade appetizers.

Its loyal customers took to the comment section and noted the friendly environment, good service and reasonable cost.

"We think it's an honor with such great restaurants in the area that we were considered the best for fish fry," Manager Shirley Miksa said. "We thank our very loyal customers who came forward and voted for us.

"We really are dedicated to pleasing our customers and providing a great atmosphere."

So congratulations to the Cellar. We'll be running similar contests throughout the next several weeks involving a variety of Oak Creek businesses, so be sure to vote in those as well.
