  • The 3800 block of Puetz Road between 6th Avenue and Chicago Road;
  • Ryan Road between Nicholson Road and Pennsylvania Avenue;
  • Weatherly Drive between Wilding Drive and Walbrook Drive;
  • Oakwood Road between Pennsylvania and John Aron Drive

High water is also reported in three other areas: the 8000 block of S. 20th St., which is not blocked off but has water running over the street; the 9300 block of S. Shepard Avenue, where water is encroaching on the roadway; and 15th Avenue between Ryan Road and Highway 100.

The city urges drivers to use caution on those roads as conditions may change as the weather changes.

The rising Root River, meanwhile, has forced the closure of a section of County Line Road on the Caledonia side, said Dave Laehn, street, park and forestry supervisor.

The city has many low-lying areas that frequently flood, but Oak Creek has seen significantly fewer road closures than normal, Mayor Steve Scaffidi said.

He credit the engineering department's efforts to better handle excessive rains, adding the work is still ongoing.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch that continues until 7 a.m. Friday. Nearly two inches of rain had fallen in Milwaukee by the end of Thursday morning, according to Patch's media partners at WISN.
