Don't Miss Today's Festivities

Parade begins at 9 a.m.; activities throughout day at American Legion Post.

You don't have to leave your hometown to celebrate our nation's independence.

The party begins with a parade at 9 a.m. and lasts all day long at theΒ American Legion Post, 9327 S. Shepard Ave.

The parade steps off at Edgewood Elementary School, at the corner of Shepard and Groveland. (Participants will assemble at 8 a.m. at Shepard and Forest Hill)

The parade proceeds west on Groveland, takes a left on S. Knights Place, goes south to Centennial Drive, then back east toward Shepard before finishing at East Middle School.

Afterward, have some ice cream and other refreshments at American Legion Post 434. From 1 to 5 p.m., the Legion will host the Larry Lynne Band in the lower hall.

Tee-ball and baseball games will be held beginning at 11 a.m. and throughout the afternoon at Upper and Lower Legion Park.

Fireworks go off at dusk.
