Health Dept: Cool Off and Beat the Heat

Oak Creek health officials urge people to take caution and reduce outdoor activities, especially during the hottest parts of the day.

With temperatures expected to be in the 90s through tomorrow, people should take caution and find a cool place to beat the heat.

The health risks associated with excessive heat are real, especially for elderly people, small children, people on medication and people with weight or alcohol problems, Oak Creek Health Officer Judi Price said.

Residents can visit the or if they do not have access to air conditioning (call the community center at (414) 768-5840 to check availability).

Health officials caution residents to slow down and reduce outdoor activities, especially during the hottest parts of the day, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It's also a good idea to wear light-colored clothing and drink plenty of water.
