1. The Hundred Dresses

Where/When: Todd Wehr Theater/Friday, 7 p.m.; Saturday, 7 p.m.; Sunday, 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Why Go: This cute play, presented by First Stage Children's Theater, will teach children about having courage and standing up for someone or something they believe in.

Pricing: Tickets start as low as $10

Invention-ation

Where/When: Oak Creek Lab, 422 E. Oak St., Suite 3/Saturday, 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Why Go: Children will experience how inventions work, experiment with common items and learn that anyone of any age can be an inventor. Presented by Mad Science as part of the Super Saturday Workshops series.

3. Smile Day at the Zoo

Where/When: Milwaukee County Zoo, 10001 W. Bluemound Rd./Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday

Why Go: As part of the Greater Milwaukee Dental Association's Smile Day event, the Peck Welcome Center will be the site of free fun and educational oral health activities, the tooth fairy will be on hand, and illusionist Ardan James will perform at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Also, every child who visits the welcome center will receive a free toothbrush.

Pricing: zoo admission is free to families with an event flyer from their GMDA dentist or when you mention "Smile Day."

4. Tornado Alley

Where/When: Humphrey IMAX Dome Theater/Thursday, 2:30 p.m.; Friday, 3:30 p.m.; Saturday, 12:30 p.m.; Sunday, 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Why Go: This 45-minute film at the IMAX features Storm Chasers star Sean Casey in an ambitious effort to understand the origins and evolution of tornadoes. Probably want to make sure your kids are old enough.

Pricing: $5

5. Newborn, Infant and Toddler Clothing Rummage Sale

Where/When: Whole Foods, 2305 N. Prospect Ave./Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Why Go: For some great deals on children’s clothing up to size 4, and because 100 percent of the proceeds go toward the Whole Planet Foundation.
