Thursday: Learn About Mosquito-Borne Diseases At Health Dept. Program

A seminar on how to keep your family safe from tick and mosquito-borne diseases will be held May 3 at the Salvation Army.

The is sponsoring a seminar on how to keep your family safe from tick and mosquito-borne diseases.

The program will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the , 8853 S. Howell Ave. 

Medical and other experts will discuss how to avoid and prevent these sometimes fatal diseases, what symptoms to look for and immediate actions to take if symptoms occur.

Registration is recommended and can be done by visiting the city's official website or calling (414) 768-6539.

State officials said in a news release issued Tuesday that tickborne diseases remain a threat in Wisconsin. Last year, 4,123 confirmed and probable cases of tickborne diseases were reported, compared to 4,073 in 2010.
