The Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission is seeking donations to help fund the surgery necessary for a dog (pictured at right) that was hit by a car in the 5200 block of N. 44th St. in Milwaukee.
Anyone wishing to help should send a donation to MADACC, 3839 W Burnham St., West Milwaukee, WI, 53215 and place "injured animal fund" in the memo field.
The owner of the dog is not known, a tragic reminder that pets need to be licensed, said David Flagler, MADACC executive director.

"If the dog had been licensed, we could have immediately contacted the owner for her return; but right now, we have no leads as to who owns the dog," Flagler said in an e-mail.
"This dog is an excellent example that pets need to be licensed. 2012 licenses are now available. People can do their pet a favor by keeping a current license on their pet in the event that their pet should get lost."
