Mark Your Calendars: Two Big Summer Events in Oak Creek

National Night Out and 4th of July aren't far away.

Details are being finalized for two of the bigger events in Oak Creek this summer - Fourth of July and National Night Out.

The July 4 celebration will be in its usual spot at the American Legion Post, 9327 S. Shepard Ave.

The parade starts at 9 a.m. at Edgewood Elementary School, at the corner of Shepard and Groveland. (Participants will assemble at 8 a.m. at Shepard and Forest Hill)

The parade proceeds west on Groveland, takes a left on S. Knights Place, goes south to Centennial Drive, then back east toward Shepard before finishing at East Middle School.

Tee-ball and baseball games will be held beginning at 11 a.m. and throughout the afternoon.Β Fireworks go off at dusk.

National Night Out

The 16th annual National Night Out will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 2 at the . The well-attended crime-prevention event will include safety sessions, exhibition booths, raffles, food and fireworks.

Past National Night Outs have also included the police canine unit, an OCPD driving skills course, flashlight walk, Coast Guard helicopter and fire department equipment.
