Oak Creek Spared of Major Flooding So Far

Besides high water in farm fields, ditches and a few isolated areas of the city, Oak Creek has not had major problems after two days of heavy rain.

Oak Creek has a few problem areas after two days of heavy rains, but so far the city has been spared of major flooding issues, according to the Oak Creek Street Department.

Some farm fields have resembled mini-lakes, while problems have also been reported on W. Oakwood Road and Weatherly Drive, said Dave Laehn, the city's street, park and forestry supervisor.

High water has also been seen in many ditches, which after the past winter weren't ready to handle this much rain, Laehn said.

The storm brought more than 1.5 inches of rain on Tuesday and resulted in several power outages throughout the city.

The rain picked back up Wednesday and is expected to continue into Thursday, with another inch possible, according to Patch's media partners at WISN. A flood watch is in effect until Friday.
