Thousands Affected By Power Outage Friday

About 5,600 We Energies customers, mostly in the southeastern and eastern part of Oak Creek and a portion of South Milwaukee, lost power about 11 a.m. Friday.

Thousands of We Energies customers in Oak Creek, mostly in the eastern and southeastern part of town, lost power Friday morning.

About 5,600 We Energies customers in Oak Creek and a portion of South Milwaukee were part of a power outage that happened around 11 a.m. Friday, We Energies spokeswoman Cathy Schulze said.

Roughly 2,500 customers were restored by noon, and the remaining 3,100 were back on by 1 p.m.

The outage was believed to be related to an equipment problem at a substation, Schulze said.
