South Shore Will Host Screening of 'The Hammer'

Movie is based on life of deaf wrestler.

is one of only two theaters in the Milwaukee area showing The Hammer, a film based on the life of UFC fighter Matt Hamill.

Hamill was the first deaf wrestler to win a national collegiate championship. He went on to be a contestant on the third season of The Ultimate Fighter reality television show, which launched his career in the UFC. He fought in the UFC for the past six years before announcing his retirement.

"Raised among those with the ability to hear, Matt finds himself no less an outsider amidst the deaf community," according to a preview of the film.

The film, which will be shown at 7 p.m. Wednesday, is presented in Open Caption.
