The Week Behind, The Week Ahead for Oak Creek

Last week was just another week in Oak Creek and Wisconsin: near 60 degrees one day, below zero two days later.

Ho hum.

Actually, besides the crazy weather, the week in Oak Creek was highlighted by a visit from Gov. Scott Walker, who laid out his priorities to South Suburban Chamber members; news of long-awaited improvements to the Oak Creek High School pool; and a man who got arrested for drunken driving twice in the same night.

Onto this week: after you recover and clean up from your Super Bowl party, look for more on the Drexel Town Square development project at the corner of Drexel and Howell avenues. Patch will be talking to a few of the new players involved in the project to see what they think of the plans so far and what they envision for the site.

Patch will also have news on Oak Creek's possible participation in the federal Safe Routes to School program, an initiative that aims to make conditions safer for children biking and walking to school.
