Time's Almost Up: Winter Returns Thursday

It's likely that many Oak Creek residents opted for a lighter jacket or sweatshirt when they stepped outside Tuesday and Wednesday.

However, those salad days are coming to an abrupt end as a combination of low pressure systems have finally found our corner of Wisconsin. Three to 6 inches of snow are in the forecast and the National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory, in effect from Thursday morning to Friday morning. 

Snowfall is expected to start around 7 a.m. Thursday, with heavier amounts falling later during the day. The event will take longer than most "hit-and-run" storms, which has forecasters estimating 2 to 4 inches during the daylight hours Thursday and another 1 to 2 inches between Thursday night and Friday morning.

While it's a rude awakening, it's also a sign we've had it easy - high temperatures are predicted to "plummet," but are still less than 5 degrees below the normal temperature of 29 for January. The extended forecast shows us revisiting the 30s over the weekend.
