Power Knocked Out In Friday Snowstorm

6 to 8 inches expected to fall in southeastern Wisconsin.

Snow started to fall heavily in Oak Creek just after 3 p.m. Friday as a winter storm warning went into effect.

The warning expired at midnight. By the time the storm is over, the National Weather Service predicted between 6 to 8 inches of snow will be on the ground.

"This will be a wet heavy snow," according to the NWS forecast.

We Energies crews were responding to reports of power outages. On ο»Ώthe Oak Creek Patch Facebook pageο»Ώ, a reader said the road at Howell Avenue and Oakwood Road was closed about 5:30 p.m. due to downed power lines. Power was restored just after 6:30 p.m., according to a Journal Sentinel report.

The We Energies power outage map showed 68 customers near the Ryan Road interchange impacted by an outage about 10:30 p.m.

As rush hour began, delays on the freeway system were as high as 40 minutes. The commute on southbound Interstate 94 was a bit easier, with about a three-minute increase between Layton and 7-Mile Road.
