Defense Against Running Backs

Defensively, Green Bay needs to pick it up a bit, and not let other teams get so many points on the board. A stronger response to the running game by the opposite team will be essential.

If there is one thing the Green Bay Packers are still showing a little weakness regarding, it has to be the defensive line. It is absolutely wonderful to have a first-rate offense, because we need the points all too often.

Watching the game against the New Orleans Saints, the Saints managed to put 34 points on the board. Similarly, in past weeks, the Carolina Panthers put 23 points on the board, Chicago was kept to 17 points, then Denver put 23 points on the board. While none of these seem all that bad, the fact is the Packers have a defense that could stop a team at one or two touchdowns.

Green Bay is rolling now, but Packers coach Mike McCarthy says there's always room for improvement.

Eric Decker caught a pair of touchdowns from Kyle Orton for Denver (1-3). Orton threw for 273 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions.

Green Bay's defensive line needs to be able to spot the play ahead, and stop the running game and the passing game. While last week the defense took down two interceptions, if  the team keeps letting the other guys score, it's will be a numbers game all year!

Not to be too hard on Green Bay, they are breaking records on their own team regarding wins, points, and successes. Here are a couple:

Including playoffs, the Packers have now won 10 straight games, the team’s longest streak since a 12-game winning streak in 1961-62.

The 148 points posted by the Packers in the first four games set a franchise record (since team entered NFL in 1921), topping the mark of 140 points in 1945.

To finish up, Green Bay's defensive line needs a stronger handle on the other side's running game, as they seem to be able to break up the passing game. Let's go Green Bay! Thanks for all the Fun!
