Packers Receive Military Salute

The Green Bay Packers receive a Military Salute in the form of a Certificate of Appreciation from the Navy Operational Support Center in Green Bay.

The Green Bay Packers have a long tradition of supporting America's fighting men and women. This past month their commited support was acknowledged by the members of the Navy Operational Support Center in Green Bay for the great work they have done.

Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation from Commanding Officer Karen Muntean, Command Chief Joel Stewart and other members of the support center. The certificate notes the work done with Operation Fan Mail, military care packages, and many letters of thanks and support from the Packers.

In a team news release, Murphy said, "The recognition is truly an honor. We appreciate everything you do for us and it is important to us that we are able to have our servicemen and women involved with our organization. And I think I can speak for everyone when I say we love our flybys."

The Packers have always made it clear they are honored to support the military and their families. In return, Muntean said in the news release: "The Packers have always shown great support for not only us, but also throughout the military community. We wanted to be here today to express our thanks for all the Packers organization has done over the years."

Operation Fan Mail is a program where one family is chosen to take the field during pre-game activities and receive a standing ovation in recognition of their dedication to our country. This occurs for 38 games and the Packers receive thousands of requests yearly from families wishing to participate. Muntean thanked the Packers for their years of "amazing support" and opportunities.
