Small Businesses Rock

Shopping locally helps customers feel valued.

I know I am a fiber blogger, but sometimes you just have to promote a good feeling.

With Christmas breathing down our necks I thought I better get my food shopping lined up. I buy all my meat from a local butcher shop, for a few reasons: I trust them, they don't buy hormone injected or BGH meats, the service, and not to mention, they have competitive pricing. I also like them.

So I made the call to see if I should reserve the meat for Christmas Eve. I said, "I'm Jan, the one with the brightly colored hair." "Oh hi Jan, great description. How are you?"

Huh? I felt like I called an old friend, seriously. I explained what I wanted and he told me how much I should get and not to worry, they will take care of it for me and I don't need to reserve it?. Wow, this is the personal service that makes you feel like you are the best customer they have. I do not buy 1/2 cows from them, I buy 2 pork chops, 4 sausage, etc. and this is how they treat me...totally awesome.

Another business that does that is . I can bring in a broken off part of something and they look at it, turn it over and say here, we can help you with that. Need a pipe cut, or just help with something - they do that! You won't get that from big box stores. These people know service and are trained to help you. They do not point to aisle 89 and walk away. Try them.
