Thank You Classic Lanes

A word of thanks to Classic Lanes and a challenge to Oak Creek businesses and members of the South Suburban Chamber of Commerce to give back to our gracious and humble colleague.

THANK YOU Classic Lanes for everything you did in the aftermath of the Sikh Temple shootings. Al will never post a sign telling people about the 37 straight hours he stayed on-duty nor will Classic Lanes boast about the double hit they took by way of food and drink donated and business lost during those days. The selfless and humble actions of Classic Lanes has set an example for me and, if I may be so bold, to all businesses in Oak Creek and members of the South Suburban Chamber of Commerce.

As an attorney, I am going to use a bit of legalese to set a Challenge to recognize the citizenship of Classic Lanes and give back to our business colleague:

Martin Law Office, S.C., a Wisconsin corporation with its principal office in the City of Oak Creek and a member in good standing with the South Suburban Chamber of Commerce, hereby challenges all corporations with a place of business in the City of Oak Creek, all members of the South Suburban Chamber of Commerce, and any other corporation, to match its gift of $250.00 for the benefit of Classic Lanes. Said gifts are to be used at the discretion of Classic Lanes.

The willingness of any business to answer this Challenge can be made publicly by posting a comment to this article or privately by sending an email to kevin@martin-law-office.com. Said Challenge will remain open until 5:00pm on the 21st day of September, 2012. Martin Law Office, S.C. shall post a weekly reminder of this Challenge on the Oak Creek Patch and through the South Suburban Chamber of Commerce list serve. Martin Law Office, S.C. shall keep a private log of all corporations who have responded to this challenge. Beginning on the 24th day of September, 2012, Martin Law Office, S.C. shall contact all corporations that have responded to this Challenge to provide information on donating said funds.

Love it! Classic Lanes is definitely a class act - thinking of others above their bottom line.

As an alternative to making a gift at BMO Harris Bank, those willing to contribute can make a gift online through PayPal at www.benefitforclassiclanes.com.

How about a "Thank You Classic Lanes" Night!? Lets set a date to have a special night and help them to have a Night to offset the days they lost earlier this month!

Even though we're technically not in Oak Creek, with half of our clients living in Oak Creek, we have always felt part of the amazing community that is Oak Creek. As such, we will answer to this call, and in addition extend our services to the owners of Classic Lanes at no charge for 2012. This tragedy affects us all, regardless of where we live or operate and Classic Lanes has set a very high standard of conduct that all businesses should aspire to.

As one of the owners of Classic Lanes in Oak Creek I appreciate what Kevin Martin and his law office had in mind when they set up this fund, unknowingly to us, but we at Classic Lanes would much rather see any donations go directly to the Sikh families tragically affected by the events on that day or to Lt. Murphy. Any donations that do come through this effort will certainly be donated as well to these people. We were more than happy to do what we could those few days for the members of the Sikh Temple and the first responders. There were many other businesses and organizations here throughout this tragedy that certainly stepped up as well. I firmly believe that any business in Oak Creek would have not hesitated to do the same. I am very proud of this community on how well I believe they have come together and to know we all did it together as a community.

Grow up. We won't forget either. That those of you who had a little bit, held tightfisted to it likeRead More a four year old unwilling to share his toy truck. That you endorsed and supported a man who has gone on to undermine this state, its jobs, its infrastructure, its education system, its people, its very foundation. You remember...it was you who did this.
