Coyotes in oak creek

I've seen two coyotes in/near my yard in the last week. I live across from Carollton Grade School. Has anyone else in the neighborhood had a problem?? I have a new puppy and am very concerned. I do not leave her out alone but want some feedback on what to do to to avoid a problem.
