Alleged Drunken Driver Crashes on College Avenue, Flees

A 21-year-old who allegedly drove the wrong way on Pennsylvania Avenue was arrested for drunken driving.

A 21-year-old South Milwaukee man crashed his car on College Avenue and fled into the woods, where he was quickly apprehended by authorities, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.

Jose Enrique Carattini-Alicea was arrested for drunken driving after he registered a .15 on a breath test, the Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

Police say Carattini-Alicea was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of Pennsylvania Avenue about 2:15 a.m. Monday. He sped away from a sheriff's deputy who tried to pull him over and led the officer on a 3.5-mile pursuit.

He then crashed his car in the woods near College Avenue and Lake Drive. Officers arrested Carattini-Alicea after his unsuccessful attempt to run away from the crash, according to police.

In addition to drunken driving, Carattini-Alicea will also be booked on charges on recklessly endangering safety and fleeing police.
