Boy Arrested After Car Break-Ins Near Apartment Building

A 17-year-old boy admitted to breaking into unlocked vehicles near the 6900 block of S. 20th St., according to an Oak Creek police report.

Oak Creek police arrested a 17-year-old boy for breaking into cars near an apartment complex early Wednesday morning.

According to a police report:

Officers were called to the 6900 block of S. 20th St. about 1:30 a.m. after a witness saw a person walking around a parking lot "looking like he is trying to break into vehicles."

When police arrived, the 17-year-old tried running away but was taken into custody.

The boy admitted stealing items from unlocked vehicles in the parking lot, near the Timber Ridge Apartments. Police arrested him for theft and criminal trespassing.

The 17-year-old entered at least two vehicles, and possibly more. Officers recovered two GPS units and a car stereo.
