Driver Arrested In OWI Crash

A 43-year-old Oak Creek man was arrested for drunken driving after he crashed his vehicle Sunday afternoon in the 800 block of E. Rawson Ave.

According to a police report:

Witnesses saw his vehicle swerving back and forth about 4:50 p.m. before he hit a street sign and knocked off his driver's side mirror.Β His face was bleeding but he declined to be taken to a hospital.

The man told police he looked down at his cell phone and lost control of the vehicle, according to the report. He said he drank two beers at home in the morning. Officers smelled intoxicants on his breath and he was arrested after he failed field sobriety tests.

In addition to the second-offense drunken-driving charge, he was cited for failure to keep vehicle under control and inattentive driving.
