Driver Cited After Leaving Scene After Accident

Man also hospitalized after one-vehicle crash.

A 30-year-old Oak Creek man received three citations and a trip to the hospital after an accident on 15th Avenue Thursday night.

say the man was traveling southbound when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a retaining wall for a driveway in the 9400 block of S. 15th Avenue. His vehicle, which sustained extensive damage, came to rest in a ditch on the east side of the road.

A witness told police that he saw the man crawl out of the vehicle and get picked up by another driver.

Police later learned his identity and that he was at Aurora St. Luke's South Shore. He admitted to driving the car, telling police he swerved to avoid a collision with a reckless driver traveling northbound, according to a police report. He sustained injuries to his back and face.

Officers cited him for failure to notify police of an accident, operating after suspension and failure to keep vehicle under control.
