Driver Going 80 MPH On 27th St. Arrested For OWI

The 38-year-old driver has three drunken-driving convictions and was arrested again in the early morning hours Sunday, according to a police report.

A 38-year-old man clocked at 80 mph in a 45 mph zone on S. 27th Street was arrested for his fourth drunken driving offense early Sunday morning.

An officer started following the man's vehicle after seeing him make a left-hand turn onto Ryan Road and deviate from his lane about 4:30 a.m., according to a police report.Β 

The driver then accelerated well over the speed limit and was eventually pulled over in the 8900 block of S. 27th St. The man had red, glassy eyes, slurred speech, smelled of alcohol and admitted to drinking, according to the report.

He registered a preliminary blood-alcohol content of .15 and was taken to Wheaton Hospital for a blood draw.
