Driver Hits Two Mailboxes in Elm Road Accident

Police say the three passengers of the vehicle were all wearing seat belts and suffered only minor cuts. The 18-year-old driver received three citations.

An 18-year-old Oak Creek man struck two mailboxes and flipped his car over on E. Elm Road Wednesday night.

According to a police report, the driver was eastbound on Elm just before 6 p.m. when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a mailbox.

He then over-compensated, crossed the road and hit another mailbox, according to the report. The vehicle then went into the ditch and eventually came to rest upside down in the front yard of a home.Β

The three occupants of the vehicle were wearing seat belts and sustained only minor cuts, police said. None were taken to the hospital.

The 18-year-old was cited for inattentive driving, non-registration of vehicle and operating without insurance.

His vehicle suffered severe damage. The damage to the mailboxes was estimated at $100 each.
