Erratic Driver Arrested For OWI

Witness told police man drove into oncoming traffic on Oakwood Road.

A 40-year-old Racine man seen driving erratically on the south end of Oak Creek Saturday night was arrested for operating under the influence.

A witness phoned about 8:20 p.m. saying the vehicle drove into oncoming traffic in the 100 block of E. Oakwood Road and then hit the curb, according to a police report.

An officer found the vehicle heading westbound on Shepard Avenue, weaving in and out of traffic, crossing the center line and going 20 mph over the speed limit, according to the report. He stopped the vehicle in the 10200 block of S. Howell Ave.

According to the report, the officer smelled a strong odor intoxicants on the driver and noted slurred speech and bloodshot eyes.

Police said the man failed all field sobriety tests and registered a preliminary blood-alcohol content of .25, more than three times the legal limit to drive in Wisconsin.
