Franklin Man Pulls Loaded Gun on Wife, Police Say

A 28-year-old Franklin man is accused of pointing a loaded gun at his wife when she got upset with him for turning off the power to their home.

Russell Gordon Cox was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Saturday with disorderly conduct with use of a dangerous weapon. If convicted, he faces up to 90 days in jail and $1,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

Franklin police officers were called to the couple’s home in the 6800 block of South Parkedge Circle on Friday after the woman reported her husband pulled a gun on her.

She said they were arguing and Cox turned off the power to the residence and then refused to turn it back on. He tried to leave, but she blocked him, saying he couldn’t until he turned the power back on.

Cox then went to the bedroom and grabbed his gun and pointed at his wife, who then put up her hands and fell to the floor in fear of her life.

Cox then went to another man's house and handed him a 9mm gun, saying he needed to keep it out of his car. The man told police Cox appeared nervous, and after he cleared the gun when Cox left it, he found eight rounds of ammunition in the magazine.

Cox admitted arguing with his wife and shutting off the power. He said he did leave with his gun, but denied pointing it at his wife.

Cox is free on $250 bail while awaiting trial.
