Two incidents of gas drive offs have police asking for vigilance at the pump to help keep criminals from stealing, and to help keep the cost of gas down.
On Nov. 10 Jetz Convenience Center reported the theft of gas by a man driving a blue minivan around 10:30 a.m., according to police reports.
The van displayed a Wisconsin license plate of 886PLP, however, the plate appeared to have been altered to change the number. Police say this same altered plate was on a red minivan when the white male driving that van also stole gas from Jetz on Sept. 13. The driver hid his face with a hood. If you see a vehicle that appears to have an altered license plate, contact police.
Jetz was again struck on Nov. 13 just before 9 a.m., but this time it was a gold minivan which was displaying a stolen license plate. Officers were able to locate the vehicle and arrested the 36 year old Milwaukee man driving it.
An investigation found that this subject was responsible for multiple gas thefts in Muskego, New Berlin, and other cities in the area.
Police also recommend that you report any incidents involving stolen license plates as it's generally the way the suspects are able to drive off without getting caught.
