Governor Appoints Satula to Emergency Management Post

Former Oak Creek fire chief recently announced retirement from fire department.

Gov. Scott Walker has appointed former Oak Creek Fire Chief Brian Satula to the position of Wisconsin Emergency Management administrator. 

Wisconsin Emergency Management coordinates disaster response and recovery efforts in support of local governments. Programs include hazard mitigation, warning and communications, emergency police and fire services and disaster response and recovery.

"Brian Satula has had a distinguished career in fire services and emergency management," Walker said in a news release. "I know Brian's top priority is protecting our citizens and communities. His extensive experience as a first responder to numerous emergencies including fires, natural disasters and hazardous material spills, and his vast knowledge of emergency management will serve him well in this position."

Satula, 54,  from the Oak Creek Fire Department earlier this month. He spent the last five years as fire chief in Oak Creek and has more than 33 years experience in fire services.

He assumes his new duties on Sunday.

Satula is a member of the governor's Homeland Security Council and serves as president of the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System Wisconsin, a mutual aid system used for fire services. He is also an instructor at Milwaukee Area Technical College in the associate degree and certification programs.

Satula is enrolled in the Naval Post-Graduate School, Master of Arts in homeland defense and security studies.
