Loss From di Carlo Burglary Less Than First Thought

The popular Oak Creek restaurant lost about $4,800 in deposits and sustained a fair amount of damage in a Feb. 28 burglary. A police investigation is ongoing.

Trattoria di Carlo lost less money than originally thought in a Feb. 28 break-in at the restaurant.

Early police reports showed the restaurant, 8469 S. Howell Ave., lost between $15,000 and $20,000 in cash, leading some to wonder why so much was left in the registers.

But in reality, that was the total estimated loss and damage, owner Carlo Pedone said. The business lost $4,864 that was to be deposited the next morning, plus a few hundred dollars from the cash registers.
