Man Answers Help Wanted Ad By Breaking Into Business

A 27-year-old was arrested for drunken driving and trespassing after he allegedly climbed a fence to get into a business on Ryan Road.

Breaking into a business drunk probably isn't a good first impression to leave with an employer you want to hire you.

But that's what police say a 27-year-old man did in the early morning hours Jan. 23 at Cummins NPower, 800 W. Ryan Road.

According to a police report, the man said he wanted to check out the business after seeing an advertisement for employment. About 2:30 a.m., he climbed the fence to get to an open door at the back of the building, according to the report.

The man told police he only wanted to look around and wasn't going to take anything.

That explanation, surprisingly, didn't sway anybody over to his side. Police cited the man for trespassing after the business said it wanted to pursue charges.

Officers also found the man to be intoxicated, with a preliminary blood-alcohol content of .18, and arrested him drunken driving.
