Man Arrested In Driveway After Fleeing Traffic Stop

A driver was pulled over only for a minor lamp violation, but fled in his vehicle for more than two miles on Howell Avenue, according to police.

A driver who was pulled over for a minor lamp violation sped away from a traffic stop and was arrested in a driveway more than two miles away.

Police stopped the vehicle at Howell and College avenues about 2 a.m. May 3. As soon as the officer exited his squad car, the driver took off, according to a police report.

During a 2.2-mile chase, the man drove between 20 and 45 miles per hour, and was swerving and not using a blinker, according to the report.

He pulled into a driveway in the 4600 block of S. Howell Avenue, where police arrested him for fleeing police and operating without required lamps.
