Man Facing Two Drug Charges, 30 Years in Prison

Oak Creek police officers knocked on his hotel room door and noticed the smell of marijuana, which led to the discovery of more drugs.

A 27-year-old Milwaukee man could spend the next three decades in prison after Oak Creek police officers found him in a hotel room with Oxycodone pills, heroin and cocaine.

Fernando Vazquez was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Tuesday with one count of possession with intent to deliver more than three grams of heroin and one count of possession with intent to deliver more than five grams of cocaine. If convicted, he faces up to 30 years in prison and $100,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

On Saturday an Oak Creek police officer at decided to knock on Vazquez’s room door. A woman answered the door and the officer could immediately smell burnt marijuana.

Vazquez let the officer into the room and grabbed a cup full of cigarette butts. However, the officer also noticed marijuana roaches in the cup. The officer then picked up a folio of information given to Vazquez for his stay and discovered two bags with 12 grams of cocaine underneath the folder.

The officer searched the rest of the room and found eight grams of heroin and 55 Oxycodone pills inside clothes in the room.

Vazquez has been turned over to the Justice 2000 program while awaiting trial.
