The Oak Creek Fire Department began following Topic about 5:50 p.m. Sunday after being flagged down by a woman who said the man just pulled a knife on her while she was walking her dogs. The woman said Topic was acting oddly, pulled the knife out and yelled at her to "get moving."

An officer arrived and told Topic to turn around and put his hands in the air. He had his gun drawn based on the nature of the complaint and was accompanied by a police canine.

When Topic became angry and threw his hat on the ground, the officer ordered him to the ground. Topic began yelling, "kill me, kill me."

The officer switched to a Taser and again ordered Topic to the ground, and Topic continued to ignore him. The officer then deployed the Taser, which struck him in the chest.

Topic ripped the Taser wires off of his jacket. The officer then told Topic he would send the police canine if he continued to not comply.

The police canine apprehended Topic in the right hand. As Topic fought with the dog, officers were able to arrest him and recovered a three-inch knife with a silver handle.

Topic faces up to a year in jail and $11,000 in fines. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for May 23.
