Man Flees Traffic Stop, Charged With 3rd OWI

A 31-year-old man and a passenger ran away from a traffic stop early Saturday morning, according to police. He was charged with his third OWI and received citations for other offenses.

Police say a 31-year-old man fled from the cops in an unsuccessful attempt to evade his third drunken-driving charge.

After the incident early Saturday morning in the 4100 block of E. Studio Lane, Brian J. Yakich of South Milwaukee was also charged with operating while revoked and received citations for resisting/obstructing an officer and marijuana possession, according to a police report.

Yakich and a 37-year-old passenger ran from a traffic stop, near the 37-year-old's home, about 2:40 a.m., according to the report. They were caught separately and taken into custody about 3 a.m.

The 37-year-old was also cited for resisting/obstructing an officer. During a search, officers found marijuana in the center console of the vehicle.

Yakich was scheduled to make his initial court appearance Tuesday.
