Troutwein took his computer to DK Systems, 9555 S. Howell Ave., on July 5 to have work done on it and transfer files to a new computer. Employees called the Oak Creek Police Department after finding child pornography images on the computer. Oak Creek police then contacted the Racine County Sheriff’s Department.

Roughly 35 gigabytes worth of child pornography was on the computer, which included 1,590 images and 211 videos.

Troutwein told investigators he downloaded child pornography to his computer via torrents more than 500 times over a five to six year period. Several days before he took his computer in for service, his system crashed while he was downloading a child porn torrent, Troutwein said.

Troutwein said none of the files were "homemade" and he only downloaded the images out of curiosity. He added that he didn't agree with everything he saw, saying some of the children were pretty young in the files.

He's currently free on a $75,000 signature bond while awaiting trial.
