Oak Creek Fire Department Helps Battle Big South Milwaukee Blaze

Two people were injured in fire.

Firefighters from the were among several departments that responded to a multi-family house fire in South Milwaukee Saturday.

The fire injured one resident and one firefighter, according to South Milwaukee Blog, which also posted a photo of the blaze. In addition to Oak Creek, Caledonia, Franklin, Greenfield, West Allis, Hales Corners, Raymond and the Racine Fire Bells responded to assist the South Milwaukee Fire Department through mutual aid.

Tony Aiello, a firefighter for Caledonia, said the department got the call at 9:15 a.m. and 20 minutes later they were on scene at 901 Monroe St. in South Milwaukee.

β€œSmoke pushed out of the eves of the home and shortly after flames shot out of the roof,” Aiello said.

Firefighters from Caledonia searched the basement and first floor of the home, which was empty. They also knocked down the walls of the second floor to make sure there wasn’t any fire behind the walls.
