Oak Creek Man Crashes On I-794, Ejected 500 Feet

Lester J. Hancock is facing his fifth drunken driving charge after a crash Wednesday night.

An Oak Creek man crashed his motorcycle on eastbound I-794 Wednesday night and was ejected about 500 feet, while his motorcycle dropped over the bridge railing and landed in a parking lot.

Lester J. Hancock, 33, will be arrested for his fifth drunken-driving offense when he is discharged from Froedtert Hospital, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.

A witness saw the motorcycle enter a curve in the Lake Interchange at a high rate of speed about 9:40 p.m., the sheriff's office said in a news release. The motorcycle hit a retaining wall and Hancock flew off, landing about 500 feet to the south.

The motorcycle ended up in a parking lot near Jefferson Street.

Hancock suffered head, ankle and hand injuries. In addition to drunken driving, he was cited for unreasonable and imprudent speed/failure to control vehicle.

His previous OWI offenses occurred in December 1998, March 2000, March 2001 and December 2004, the sheriff's office said.

He faces up to six years in prison if convicted of a fifth-offense OWI charge.
