Oak Creek Paramedic Featured in NPR Story

Jerry Biggart talks about giving CPR instructions over the phone during emergency situations.

An Oak Creek paramedic got some national publicity Friday when he was quoted in a National Public Radio story discussing dispatchers' CPR coaching.

Jerry Biggart told NPR that Oak Creek trains all dispatchers on how to give CPR instructions over the phone to people while paramedics are en route.

It's not as common of a practice as you might think -- but Biggart and others quoted in the piece said it has been critical to giving people the help they need and has even saved lives.Β
