Oak Creek PD Offers Girls Self-Defense Class

Girls about to head to college or enter the workforce can get free self-defense training through the Oak Creek Police Department.

The Oak Creek Police Department will host a free self-defense seminar for high school girls from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. April 20.

The seminar's goal is to give training to seniors in high school who will soon leave for college or enter the workforce, said Kim Bogadi of the police department's community resource bureau. The class will present practical information to help women reduce the risk of an assault and survive dangerous encounters.

Applications are available at Oak Creek High School and through the city's website. Girls must be in high school and age 17 or older.
