Oak Creek Woman Accused of Stealing From Seniors at West Allis Living Facility

An Oak Creek woman is facing felony charges after she allegedly stole money and pills from residents at a West Allis senior living community.

Jessica Ann Kroon, 23, was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Thursday with three counts of burglary. If convicted, she faces up to 37 ½ years in prison and $75,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

West Allis police were called to Village of Manor Park on March 8 after a woman suffering from dementia reported money possibly stolen. An envelope with about $1,200 was missing, though she couldn’t remember if she gifted it or if someone took it.

On April 14, a 91-year-old man living at the center reported money and Hydrocodone pills missing. The victim said he took $500 out of the bank and put $400 of it in his lockbox, but after leaving his apartment, the money was gone.

The man agreed to let staff put a hidden camera in his room to monitor who comes in when he's gone. Several days later, he reported another $100 missing from his lockbox.

When staff reviewed the footage, they discovered Kroon was the only person to enter the residence while the man was gone and saw her open a dresser drawer, then leave with her hand in her pocket.

Kroon was arrested for the theft and admitted to taking money from the other victim as well. When police searched her room, they also discovered a key to the man’s lockbox and text messages on her cell phone regarding narcotic drug sales.

Kroon said she worked at the facility since 2009 as a certified nursing assistant and began stealing from the facility in 2011. She estimated she took about $2,000.

Kroon also said she would sometimes pass out medication from residents and after receiving Vicodin pills from the nurses, she would swap the pills with Tylenol and keep the painkillers for herself.

She will make her initial appearance in court June 7.
