OCPD Offers Women's Self-Defense Class

Goal of course is to reduce risk of assault.

The Oak Creek Police Department is offering a women's self-defense class this fall to females age 17 and older.

The class is designed to increase awareness of surroundings and keep participants from entering dangerous situations. The course also instills self-confidence and offers practical safety tips.

The goal is to reduce the risk of an assault and survive a deadly encounter. A portion of the course has a physical fitness component that women may participate in, but it is not mandatory. Attendees work at their own pace and skill level.

The class is free of charge to residents of Oak Creek or women who work for companies in the city.

The full-day class will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 5.
