One Injured in Three-Vehicle Crash at 27th and Ryan

A driver told police his brakes went out as he entered the intersection. He went through a red light and struck a vehicle, which then hit a third vehicle.

Police say a vehicle went through a red light at 27th and Ryan last week and caused a three-vehicle crash, sending one person to the hospital.

A witness said a vehicle was northbound on 27th Street about 11:45 a.m. June 5 when it went through the red light and struck a vehicle eastbound on Ryan Road, according to an report. That vehicle then hit a third vehicle, which was traveling westbound on Ryan.

The driver of the vehicle that ran the red light told police his brakes went out as he entered the intersection. His car had major damage, while the other two vehicles sustained moderate damage.

The driver, a 35-year-old Milwaukee man, was to receive citations for defective brakes, running a red light and driving without insurance, according to the report.

A 58-year-old Franklin woman, driving the car that was initially hit, was taken to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital with back and head pain.

All three vehicles were towed from the scene.
