Police: Drunken Driver Rear-Ended Vehicle, Fled Scene

Man's blood-alcohol content was almost three times the legal limit when he struck vehicle on Ryan Road, according to police.

A man driving with a blood-alcohol content almost three times the legal limit rear-ended a vehicle and (unsuccessfully) tried to evade arrest, according to police.

Police say the driver struck a vehicle stopped in traffic at 20th Street and Ryan Road about 9 a.m. July 1 and left the scene without getting out of his vehicle or giving the other driver any information.

An officer found the striking vehicle in the 9900 block of S. Chicago Road. The man was arrested for operating under the influence after registering a .22 on the Intoximeter test, according to a police report. He was also cited for hit-and-run.

The other driver hit her head on the headrest but declined an ambulance, police said.
