Police: Man In Standoff Was Suicidal

Charges have not yet been brought against 30-year-old.

Initial calls to the Oak Creek Police Department indicated the 30-year-old man at the center of with police was suicidal.

According to the police department logbook, the man's mother called police about 3:05 p.m., saying her son had a gun and was making suicidal statements.

The man then took the phone and told police he was outside with a gun in his hand, according to a police report. He retreated inside when officers arrived at the house, in the 10500 block of S. Chicago Road.Β TV stations reported Saturday that the man was upset over a court case.

Authorities negotiated with the man for several hours. As talks carried on, the department sent out an alert using the city's MyState system advising people in the neighborhood to stay inside for their own safety.

Nearly five hours after the initial call, the man surrendered to police and was taken into custody.

He was transported to St. Luke's Hospital in Cudahy and later to the Milwaukee County Health Complex while continuing to make suicidal statements, according to police.

No charges have yet been filed in the incident.
