Snow Causes Several Minor Accidents, None Major

Plows were back out on Oak Creek roads Friday morning.

The responded to about ten accidents and a dozen or so disabled vehicles during Thursday's snowfall, but no major accidents were reported on city streets.

No one was injured in any of the crashes. Most were caused by cars unable to stop due to the slippery conditions.

- A 42-year-old Kenosha man received three citations in a crash in the 9300 block of S. Chicago Road. Police say he was driving in the wrong lane and sideswiped a vehicle which swerved trying to avoid him. He was cited for operating without a valid license, operating left of the center line and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

- A 36-year-old man was cited for driving too fast for conditions when he hit a light pole in the 3100 block of E. Highway 100. He told police he lost control of his vehicle and drifted sideways into the pole.

- A driver was trying to make a turn at when he lost control of his vehicle and slid into a bus. His car sustained severe front end damage while the bus had very minor damage. The man, 25, was cited for failure to maintain control of the vehicle.

Street Superintendent Mike Lampe said Friday morning that were back out on Oak Creek streets at 4:35 a.m. after ending about 10:30 p.m. Thursday. All the streets should be plowed by noon, he said.

Blowing and drifting snow were presenting some issues but salting operations are working well with the sun out, Lampe added.
