Boy Accused of Murdering Sikh Temple Member Appears in Court

Deangelo Williams waived his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday. He faces a homicide charge after the death of Dalbir Singh, a member of the Sikh temple in Oak Creek.

A 16-year-old boy charged with the murder of Oak Creek Sikh Temple member Dalbir Singh waived his right to a preliminary hearing during a court appearance Tuesday, according to Patch's media partners at Fox 6.

Deangelo Williams was charged with first-degree reckless homicide-party to a crime and possession of a firearm by a felon.

He is accused at Harmony Food Store, 3821 W. Locust St., on Aug. 15. Singh and his nephew tried to fend off Williams as the store closed about 9 p.m., but Williams fired a shot through the door that struck Singh in the head, according to a criminal complaint.

The murder came just 11 days after the shootings at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin, where six members were killed and four others injured.

Williams is scheduled to be back in court Wednesday.
